Tnomeralc Web Design Toys

The Tnomeralc Web Design Toys is one of the best products online. But as my computing demand increases, the suite of application which makes use of the latest technologies in software engineering and web development.

Since technologies like html and xml are very ancient, we might have problems with the drivers. Or worse, the system might not be compatible with today's operating systems structure. I suggested that he start looking for the driver to download from the internet.

Eying for a new laptop, the Aspire 8930G

I've been using my Acer Aspire 3680 for almost three years now. My laptop never failed me in terms of it's computing capabilities. Though I encountered several tiny hardware problems within those span of three years, generally speaking, I am satisfied on my laptop's performance.

But as my computing demand increases, my old laptop finds it hard to cope up with my needs. For an instance, I can't play hard-core games with my old laptop since its processing speed and memory capacity are not enough for most hard-core games available in the market. Also, when it comes to extreme CPU needs, for programming and other calculations, my 1.7 GHz CPU is not enough to cope with the speed needed to process a task.

I've read several articles online about this new laptop which I'm eying, the Acer Aspire 8930G. The first time I heard about this laptop was when Engadget released the news about Aspire Gemstone, Acer's new line of gaming laptops. I got excited after knowing how powerful these machines are. Abeit disappointed because of its high price, I'm still hoping that I can save money to buy one of these laptops to replace my ever loyal old Aspire 3680.

On my CODEE Engineering Post

I've been letting this thing pass since the arguments on my USEP post started. I had to make it clear that the article I wrote was about how well we made on the CODEE Engineering Congress and not in any manner that I intend to lambast USEP and/or any of its constituents.

I have no intentions of proving how better Ateneo Engineering as compared with USEP's. Not even in anyway that I want to give emphasis on how poor the facilities or the teaching methods of USEP are. Stating the obvious will be redundant.

I did not give any comments on that post. Making a comment will be degrading on my part.

Developing a POS System

Just this morning, my friend and I refurbished an old printer from the pile of junk in his cabinet. It's an EPSON LX 800, a very old model of EPSON's original dot-matrix printer models. The printer still uses the traditional parallel port to communicate with the computer. It's weird, most of the computer these days do not use parallel port anymore. Anyway, I told him, CDR King sells USB to Parallel cable for as low as seventy five pesos. He can use it to connect the old printer to his computer or laptop.

Since that printer is very ancient, he might have problems with the drivers. Or worse, the printer might not be compatible with today's operating systems. I suggested that he start looking for the driver to download from the internet.

The plan is to use the dot-matrix printer for the point of sale system which I am going to develop for their water refill business. Since the pos system requires a fast printer, it would be better to utilize the old printer since the ink cost is cheaper and it can print faster when used on DOS.

I might use Java in developing the POS system. That would be later after graduation.

Did you know that English skills are being neglected?

I mentioned in my first post that engineering students should learn english so they won't have troubles with their subjects, with their teachers and with other courses. I also gave an emphasis on how important English is in the engineering game of survival. Yet, I was not able to cite an instance or reason why students fail to consider English as an important tool in learning.

The product is a result of the processes that created it. The same thing applies in teaching. If the mentor teaches the students incorrect English grammar, pronunciation, and spelling, the students will, most likely, do the same.

Teach the student the correct way to solder and they will solder correctly. Teach them to speak well and they would do the same.

The english language is considered to be essential and relatively easy to learn, yet there are still teachers who fail to do well

All of the engineering books we use and all the instructions for engineering laboratory activity are written in English. We see and read it frequently and use it everyday, yet most (engineering) people do not see the value of learning one of the most important, yet basic, skill in the engineering field.

This problem is also true for professionals. Even licensed professionals (e.g. licensed professionals in the academic/teaching field) do not see the importance of having good english communication skills.

Learn English

First step in surviving the Engineering culture is to earn the language of the elites. English.

There is a cliche that those who are good in Mathematics are poor in English. Therefore, it follows that Engineering students are good in Math but have poor English skills. People often stereotype Engineering students to be poor in expressing themselves in English. These presumptions are proved to be wrong. One of the best debater in the region is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering in 2007. Beat that!

Here are some instances which you may not want to encounter in your Engineering life.
  • My teacher in Philosophy once said, "If you are to read a philosophical article, you might need a dictionary for you to understand what you are reading. I understand that you, Engineering Students, are not good in English". He said that without any precautions which he explicitly said in front of the class.
  • My teacher in a major subject gave a quiz in which requires an essay. (some sort of an explanation for a theory or process i think) She did not consider our answers because she said that we have misunderstood her question. The question she gave us was not the exact thought of the topic that she wanted us to discuss. See? There's always a problem when you teacher does not know how to correctly express her thoughts.

  • When a person or a classmate perhaps would commit a mistake in grammar during recitations, there is a good chance that this person or classmate would be the source of laughter for the class. But for my teacher's case, it is not. If he would go back to college and enroll in an English class, he would surely fail. Since it is already innate in him (committing mistakes in the use of English language), laughing at his mistake would be completely useless.
Well, to close my point, one should learn English for him to be better as compared to other courses. It should follow that when you are good in Math, you should also be good in English. Math follows rules and laws to be correct. Same idea is being used in the English language, it follows rules and laws for it to be grammatically correct. It should be since both skills rest at the left side of our brain, the part wherein we process logical thinking and verbal skills.

***I apologize if I am a bit biased against the teachers here.
